Top 5 places to visit near Kathmandu | NN Team Picks

Hi, I am Drishya from Né Nepal. I manage marketing communications for the brand. So if you have ever talked to Né Nepal on Instagram and other platforms, chances are we have talked to each other.

To tell you a little more about myself, I am an avid traveler and love to explore new places. However, it is not always possible to travel to new places regularly due to work schedules. Does it happen with you too?

Well, not to worry. Because I have found a way to keep up with my hobby while also keeping my work life balanced. In the past few years of traveling, I have found my comfort in few places that not only have serene beauty but are also near Kathmandu. I can go for a relaxing day out as well as a night out and come back in no time.

So, here is a list of my top 5 favorite places to visit within or near Kathmandu

Baudhanath

Located at the heart of Kathmandu, Baudhanath is my go-to place for refreshment. I love to visit Baudhanath for the calm energy it offers. I also enjoy trying out different new foods as there are many interesting eateries around the area.

Karma Coffee, Jhamsikhel

Karma Coffee is one of my favorite places to go for coffee and refreshing drinks. With its relaxing ambiance, the place is perfect for a coffee date and short meetings.

Patan Durbar Square

Patan Durbar Square is my other go-to place, especially for an evening out after work. The place is rich in historical heritage and also offers varieties of local food eateries to stir up the taste buds.  For someone like me who likes to enjoy good local food with a view, Patan Durbar Square is a perfect place.

Taudaha

Taudaha is a lake located in Kritipur, only 30 minutes away from Kathmandu. The local community people have been doing a commendable job in managing the place as the lake holds historical and religious importance. The place has an astonishing view with comfortable places to eat and spend time with friends.

Markhu

Markhu is a quick escape when I want to travel away from the city noise but near enough to return to the valley the next day. I usually go to Markhu for a relaxing night out. I also love the morning view and boating on the lake.

So, these are my top favorite places to visit near Kathmandu whenever I need a quick escape from my daily life hassles. Do you have your own comfort places? Let me know in the comments. Also, I’d be happy to know if you are going to visit these places from my list anytime soon.
